Our prices are always highly competitive. We charge a fair price for our work, and never take advantage of anyone. We will always do our best to undercut our competitors, but never at the expense of quality. We promise we will never cut corners.

Having said that, the UK economy is going through a rough patch, and times are not easy. We are an integral part of Telford's community, and when one flourishes, everyone can flourish. So we look after our customers, and we hope they will look after us. That way the whole community benefits and grows.

Lets take a look at the basic plastering products and materials offered by Plastering Telford, both modern and traditional, and get a feel for what is available for your project.

Gypsum Plaster
Gypsum is the most commonly used plaster in the UK. It ticks all the boxes for standard domestic plastering. Its tough, being impact resistant, and is not affected by domestic moisture levels. Its fire proof and also insulating, so helps to keep a room warm. Its a natural product, made from Calcium Sulphate, and is vapour free, meaning it gives off no nasty smells or harsh chemicals as it dries. Overall, it a great plastering material and its popularity is no surprise.

The most commonly found types of Gypsum plaster include White Plaster of Paris Dry Mix, Plaster of Paris, and Flat Venetian Plaster.

Lime Plaster
Lime plaster is the most traditional choice for plaster in the UK, having been used since the medieval period. Its a natural product, and eco-friendly. It allows a house to breathe, meaning moisture inside the house, or inside the walls, can move outwards and be released. This is extremely important for older houses, which were built to breathe. Applying non breathable plaster to an older property can be a disaster, causing major damp and mould problems.

Lime has a naturally high pH, which means its a natural fungicide. Mould cannot grow on lime plaster, against making it more suitable to older buildings.

It is highly durable, and has the advantage of a degree of flexibility. Brittle plaster will crack, but lime's natural flexibility prevents this, in most cases.

Traditional lime plaster is hard to work with, but in the last decade, modern versions have been introduced, containing polymers and plastics, making application far easier. This will see lime plaster become more and more popular over the next few years.

Our preferred Lime plaster products include Breathaplasta, Hydrated Lime Type, Carmeuse Type S Miracle Morta-Lok Masons Hydrated Lime and QUIKRETE 50lb Hydrated Lime

Portland Cement Plaster (Stucco)
Portland cement is another popular, and traditional plastering product. Better known as Stucco, it gives a fantastic hard, smooth finish. To touch, Stucco feels strange at first, as its so dense and silky. Its hardness gives it that smoothness, but also makes it very liable to cracking. Any movement or settling in a property will guarantee cracking.

Applied in three coats, Stucco is usually tinted, or slightly coloured, so doesn't need painting. It gives a great looking result, although it must be applied by a professional with experience of Stucco. Its not a product for amateurs.

Clay Plaster
Clay is a wonderful sustainable and Eco-friendly plastering material. It gives a beautiful textured finish and looks great in the right setting. Its highly durable, and vapour free, giving off no toxic chemicals. It is vulnerable to moisture, however, and takes skill in its application. Definitely only for dry interior walls.

Modern High-Tech Products
The plaster product market has transformed in recent years, and there are now an enormous number of modern alternatives. They have additions of acrylics, polymers and silicates, designed to give greater flexibility and durability than the traditional materials. They have all the benefits of more traditional products without the weaknesses

They are noticeably easier and more forgiving to apply than the traditional materials.

Plastering Telford will always use the best materials for the job, and can advise you on the alternatives available.

Plaster Repair Work
Many plastering companies don't want to bother with plaster repairs, but we are more than happy to undertake minor plaster rectification. No job is ever too big or too small.

Typically plaster repair work includes fixing cracks and dents in walls and ceilings, repairing 'blown' plaster, where the plaster has disconnected from the underlying wall, re-plastering after an electrician has installed new wiring, repairs from water or flood damage, and rectification of DIY plastering disasters.

We will replace ceilings, plaster walls, and install decorative features. If it involves plaster, we are the team to call. No job is too big or too small. Not just an expression. We mean it.

Do you have a palace ? Do you have an outbuilding ? Anything in-between ? Let us know. We can plaster it.

Give us a call, and lets sort out your plaster work.
